Seminar on Tobacco free Zone and

Choudwar College, Choudwar organized a Seminar- Cum- Workshop on Tobacco free Zone and "Say No to Tobacco " on dated- 16-02-22 in the Hall No 01 of College premises. A notice was served to all the students including Staff members to be present in the meeting and to take part in the discussion vide Letter no 196/CC dated 14-02-22. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr Girish Pati , Assistant District Urban Public health officer, Cuttack . and presided by our esteemed Principal Dr Umesh Chandra Debata, Reader in Pol Science .A team of Doctors from CDMO Cuttack rendered their services for the cause.After welcome address by Principal, the Chief Guest Dr Girish Pati gave a speech in which he highlighted the problems faced by people who consumes Tobacco. Dr Satyabrata Mohapatra,Additional Director ll -Cum- City health officer CMC and Nodal officer Urban Tobacco control programme, explained the hazardous effects of Tobacco use. Smt Rasmi Routray,Reader in Zoology and Nodal Officer explained about different types of Tobacco products and the roll of NTCP in Controlling Tobacco consumption . Sri Bianchi Narayan Pati ,I.I.C Choudwar Police Station attended the meeting as Guest of honour. He spoke about the "COTPA "and its importances and effective implementation. Faculty members present in the meeting namely Sarat Kumar Mallick, Reader in Math, Mohit Kar Reader in Chemistry, Dr Pravabati Padhiary .Senior Lecturer in Education, Sri Pravakar Mishra H.O.D Commerce, Prafulla Kumar Sahu,Lecturer in Odia, Jukteswar Das, Lecturer in Pol Science and Basant Kumar Biswal Lecturer in History etc delivered their valuable speech and interacted with the invited resource persons. The entire day was concluded after declaring the Choudwar College Campus as "Tobacco free Zone".The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Sri Pravakar Mishra, Reader in Commerce and a beautiful closing song sang by Dr Mrs Pravabati Padhuary and Dr Mrs Mamata Sahoo. The programme was a huge success.

Report on Anti Tobacco awareness Programme and Slogan Competition among the Students on 13-12-2021

On the 13th December of 2021 Campaign in the College premises was organized by the Anti Tobacco Committee, Choudwar College, Choudwar , some Students who volunteered with collaboration of District level Tobacco Cell. Before Campaign a notice was served by the office of the Principal vide letter No -1506 dated- .08-12-21 .The program began with Sri Pravakar Mishra, Reader in Commerce , the member of Anti Tobacco Cell, giving welcome speech. The meeting was presided by Sri Shiva Narayan Rana, the Principal of Choudwar College. The invited guest Sri Sudha Ranjan Ratho, Assistant Manager,NCD -Cum- District Consultants, NTCP, Cuttack , including the members of Committee, namely Sri Pravakar Mishra Reader in Commerce, Basant Kumar Biswal, Lecturer in history and Dr. Mamata Sahoo, Lecturer in Chemistry, addressed the every one present there and gave a small speech on the event .They spoke on the ill effects of Tobacco and its addicting effects. The Anti Tobacco Committee asked the Students prior to the event to create slogan posters related to Campaign. Latter on NTCP, Cuttack district declared to give an award to the Students who stood first among the competitor participants .Lastly a debate was held on the Topic "Harmful effects of Tobacco Consumption".The Students participants came up and spoke for and against the Topic. At the end of the Campaign a speech was given by Sri Sudha Ranjan Ratha, District Consultants N.T.C.P,Cuttack who spoke on the ill effects of Tobacco, the fatal disease, its causes ,the addictive nature of cigarettes . The faculty members namely Sri Sarat Kumar Mallick, Administrative Bursar, Dr Umesh Chandra Debata, Reader in Pol Science, Mohit Kar, Reader in Chemistry and Siva Narayan Rana, Principal I/C had attended the meeting and delivered their valuable speech on harmful effects of Tobacco. At the end we learnt how harmful Cigarettes are for Students and our health in the long run is more important than being cool or popular. Dr Mamata Sahoo the member of the Tobacco Committee and Dr Pravabati Padhiary , Programme Officer, N.S.S wing sang a beautiful closing Song at the end of the programme . The meeting ended with a Vote of thanks by Sri Pravakar Mishra Reader in Commerce.
